This is from Wikipedia
A blackhead (medically known as an open comedo,[1] plural comedones) is a yellow or blackish bump or plug on the skin. A blackhead is a type
of acne vulgaris. Contrary to the common belief that it is caused by poor hygiene, blackheads are caused by excess oils that have accumulated in the sebaceous gland’s duct. The substance found in these bumps mostly consists of keratin and modified sebum (an oily secretion of the sebaceous gland), which darkens as it oxidizes. Clogged hair follicles, where blackheads often occur, reflect light irregularly to produce a blackhead’s “black” hue.[2] For this reason, the blockage might not necessarily look black when extracted from the pore, but may have a more yellow-brown color as a result of its melanin content..
In contrast, a “whitehead” (more commonly known as a pimple or a closed comedo) is a follicle that is filled with the same material, sebum, but lacks a microscopic opening to the skin surface. Since the air cannot reach the follicle, the material is not oxidized, and remains white.[3]
The reason that you blackheads are appearing on your face is basically because of oil and dirt. Not that may seem too simple a cause, but I assure you that it is. You also may be saying to yourself. “I wash my face 2 times a day and I stil get them”.
That may be true, but the problem is that the products that you are using to wash your face is not getting rid of the chemicals in the oil and dirt that are causing the problem.
Since you have been suffering from this it makes perfect sense that you’ve been searching for a blackhead extractor. Let’s talk about that next.
Now there are several types of black head extractors on the market today.
The first extractor is something that you may already have in your home at the moment. It’s called the tissue extractor lol. Simply put, it’s a piece of tissue. Taking the piece of tissue and using your fingers you would squeeze the black head and pull it out that way. This process may or may not work depending on the size of your fingers and the size of the blackhead.
Next is the Comedone Extractor – This is a medical instrument used by many beauty salons and dermatologists to remove blackheads from the skin. The instrument has what looks like a loop on either end. After the skin has been heated with a warm towel or steam, then cleaned with alcohol. The comedone extractor is held over the blackhead, rocked back and forth until the blackhead is removed. Again, depending on the size of the blackhead, this tool may or may not work.
Finally we have the Double Spoon Comedone Extractor – This tool is used on the skin by pressing down slightly on the comedone and pulling in the direction of the hair follicles. It looks similar to a slight and easy scraping motion. Basically you are looking to pull out the blackheads by using this device and a bit of pressure. This device may cause a tiny amount of bleeding and can leave some residual marks that will go away after a few hours.
All of these blackhead extractor tools serve a purpose and I’m sure have helped many individuals. Wouldn’t it be better however not to have to deal with any of these barbaric tools in the first place though?
